Spring is a busy time of year.
Time to reset after a long winter, and get ready for the season ahead.

What we do in spring..
Spring is one of the most important times of the year for the health and appearance of a landscape. At Hanley Landscape Design, our spring services are focused on preparing properties for the growing season while identifying issues before they become larger problems later in the year. For many properties, the season begins with an inspection from our ISA Certified Arborist, who evaluates the health and structure of trees and larger plant material following winter weather. This allows us to identify storm damage, disease, insect pressure, or structural concerns early in the season and develop a plan moving forward.

Our spring cleanup services are aimed at resetting the landscape after winter and preparing gardens, lawns, and planted areas for healthy spring growth. Services typically include debris and leaf removal, edging garden beds, cutting back ornamental grasses and perennials, cleaning curb lines, preparing planting beds, and detailed property cleanup. During March, before many plants fully break dormancy, we also perform dormant pruning on select trees and shrubs. Dormant pruning allows for structural shaping, improved plant health, and cleaner spring growth while minimizing stress on the plant.

As the season progresses, our Fine Gardening team begins detailed horticultural care throughout the property. Fine gardening focuses on the long-term health, appearance, and refinement of planted spaces through detailed weeding, pruning, deadheading, perennial care, soil management, annual installations, edible gardens, irrigation monitoring, and seasonal garden maintenance. Unlike traditional maintenance, fine gardening is a hands-on horticultural service performed by a team with backgrounds in horticulture, plant science, landscape architecture, and garden care.
